Jed Koehler grew up at the GLCBP in the 80's loving everything boating. He served as a sailing instructor for GLCBP from 1993-96 before leaving to become the Water Front Director for the MDC-DCR running local state beaches for five seasons. A graduate from Salem State University with a Bachelors of Business Law, Jed became a Program Director at the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club from 2002 to 2007, then a Director for the North Shore YMCA Group from 2007 to 2011. In March of 2011, Jed Koehler Became the 4th Executive Director of the GLCBP in its 31 year history.
Mitch McManus successfully led crews of a different kind before moving to coaching full time. As an internationally awarded Film & Television Director, he has written, produced and directed commercials for everything from hamburgers to Hollywood blockbusters, however his passion has always been working with sports, listing NFL, The Soccer World Cup and the Olympic Games among his many production credits.
Rowing Director & Head Coach
David joined the Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program as a member in 2006. After a several years enjoying the sailing on the Merrimack River, he spent two summers volunteering as an instructor's assistant, and was hired as a sailing instructor during the Summer of 2013. David became the Assistant Waterfront Director in 2018 and the Waterfront Director in 2019. After receiving his Bachelors in Business Administration and Political Science, he stepped down from his position as Waterfront Director to take an active role in the family business. During the fall of 2020, David reinvigorated the sailing team after the program received a grant from the Cummings Foundation to purchase six brand-new 420 race boats.
Summer Program Directors
Mandy started working at the boathouse as the Snack Shack manager in 2012. After two years, she took on additional responsibility and became the Facilities Director for the Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program. Mandy currently manages the Snack Shack, building operations, and the CIT program located here at the GLCBP. During the year, she teaches 5th grade ELA at South Lawrence East Elementary School.
Lizzy joined the boating program in 2012 as a member taking sailing classes. After two years of enjoying the river, she joined the competitive rowing program in 2015. In her junior year, she became a captain of the varsity women’s rowing team. In 2018, Lizzy joined the GLCBP staff as a sailing instructor. In the fall of 2020, she worked as the Assistant Sailing Coach. In 2021, Lizzy entered into a management role by becoming the Waterfront Director. During the rest of the year, Lizzy studies Business Administration at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Assistant Waterfront Director
Amitai has been coming to the boating program since 2010 and learned to sail at a very young age. In 2016, he joined the CIT program and youth competitive rowing team at the boathouse. Hired as a GLCBP Staff in 2018, Amitai has been an instructor for three years and is the Assistant Waterfront Director for the summer of 2021. Having just graduated from Andover High School, Amitai will study environmental science at college in the fall and plans to join the Coast Guard in a few years' time.
